After the arrest of As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis on May 7 for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife, new reports
have surfaced that accused him of ignoring his children while becoming obsessed with bodybuilding and living a lavish lifestyle,
according to divorce papers his wife filed last fall. Lambesis, 32, was taken into custody at an Oceanside, Calif. store
by sheriff’s investigators. Local authorities said they learned he was soliciting someone to kill his wife, Meggan.

An undercover officer posed as the hit man and was asked by Lambesis to commit the crime. He is being charged with
conspiracy and soliciting to commit murder. He is to be arraigned today (May 9) in Vista Superior Court.
According to U-T San Diego, Meggan filed for divorce in September citing “irreconcilable differences.” They were married
for eight years, but were separated at the time of the incident. The couple adopted two girls, 6 and 8, in 2011 and a 1-year-old boy in
2009, all from Ethiopia.

In recent court papers obtained by U-T San Diego, Meggan Lambesis said the recent changes in her husband’s behavior
concerned her “regarding his ability to care for our three children.” “He has become obsessed with bodybuilding and spends a great
deal of time lifting weights, hanging out at the gym and being unavailable to our children,” Meggan said.
Lambesis reportedly continued to see his children for about 10 hours a week when his band was not on tour, even though he and
his wife were not living together anymore. He reportedly fell asleep while watching their children at the peach
or pool and would ignore them while texting or talking on the phone, Meggan said. She claimed he visited his then-girlfriend in
Florida twice, in addition to being on the road with As I Lay Dying for six months of the year. She claimed he spent thousands of
dollars on tattoos and purchased expensive vehicles. Meggan Lambesis submitted a 2010 tax return demonstrating the
gross family income at $233,000, according to Blabbermouth.net. She quit teaching private school and was a stay-at-home mom.
The news of Lambesis’ arrest came as a shock to the metal community since he has said he considers himself to be a
Christian and acknowledges that he finds inspiration for lyrics from biblical text.

This statement was issued by the band in regard to his arrest:

“As we post this, the legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do. There are many
unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you
informed as best we can. Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation – and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.

Thank you for your understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.”
